"I really enjoyed the event this afternoon, the warm welcome from the staff and pupils, and of course the students searching questions made it a rewarding and engaging afternoon. The format really worked very well. Thanks again for organising this."

(Business Volunteer)

"Our main objectives for participating in this event was supporting the local community, encouraging young people to pursue a career in law and raising the profile of the firm in the local area. The information beforehand was very helpful, provided within plenty of time and responses to questions were quick and helpful. Great event - well organised."

(Business Volunteer)

"Our main aim for running this event was to give all year 10 students a taste of different careers through talks by industry specialists. I can only relay the college’s thanks to you for all your help and organisation. It is very much appreciated and I thought you did a superb job! Very well organised and you were extremely helpful on the day."

(Teacher)

"The children (and staff!) really enjoyed their day. The workshops were interactive and gained the attention of the children."

(Teacher)

"We were briefed thoroughly and worked alongside each other through the planning and delivery. It was my first time being so involved in the run up, and I appreciated the guidance and support offered. Thanks to everyone, it was a fantastic day!"

(Teacher)

"I thought the trip was amazing and it has inspired me to go to university and do what I want to do when I’m older. It was an amazing, fantastic, lovely, joyful day!"

(Student)

“We would like to say how impressed the team were with the World Of Work trips, the days were the best that they have ever been and we can’t thank you enough. Please can we rebook for next year!”

(St. Paul's Catholic School)

"The children (and staff!) really enjoyed their day at Highcross. The workshops were interactive and gained the attention of the children. The questions in work booklets really helped the children to get in to the process of talking to staff at Highcross and encouraged them to think some great questions. The day helped the children to realise the variety of job opportunities available in the shopping centre.”

(St. Botolph's C of E Primary School)

"It was helpful for my future business planning to talk to teaching staff and youngsters about their experiences and needs and make them aware of the existence of my line of work. It was useful to network with other business people. I was very impressed by the organisation before and during the event. The behaviour of the young people was excellent."

“It has made me realise that it is actually down to me to make decisions about my future. It has been helpful to know where to actually get the information I need.”

“I was first unsure about what course or job I wanted to do. I would like to apply to get on the BTEC level 3 in Graphic Design or another art related subject. This interview has helped me to understand what I would like to study in college. This has also aided in me recognising what I need to do to achieve my goals set out with my Careers Adviser.”

"I enjoyed the CV workshop. It was delivered in a really fun way which made me take it all on board."

“I liked the whole careers day. I liked the active drawing and I think the computer activity got me to have a really hard think about what I want to do when I am older.”

(Student)

"I just wanted to say thanks for the time you spent with [student] yesterday. She has come in today inspired and buzzing with ideas so thank you so much."

"Having experienced a challenging year 11 at school, students should be using the summer to let off some steam and have fun in order to be fully prepared and refreshed for the year ahead. However, this doesn't mean their development needs to stall. There are many valuable lessons that students learn outside the classroom that impact, not only their performance when they return to school, but their life beyond that too. I'd urge teens to use their freedom to harness the opportunity the summer brings through experiences like NCS, a programme we recommend at Groby Community College that is open to all 15-17 year olds across Leicestershire. The programme which offers four weeks of fun and discovery in the Summer holiday gives teens the chance to make new friends, grow in confidence and learn valuable work and life skills, helping them to re-focus their minds ahead of the new term."

Rob Coles, head teacher at Groby Community College

“I would like to commend NCS on its work to help young people to obtain the employability skills that are so important to their futures as employees - skills that employers are saying are needed. I would urge schools and colleges to work with NCS and together we can help prepare and develop young people for the future.”

“When my mum arranged an interview with the Careers Adviser, I wasn’t sure how that would help much. I didn’t know what I wanted to do anyway. I wasn’t motivated to go. Once I was there, the Careers Adviser I saw was very friendly and assured me that there's always options and my future starts now. I feel more motivated and I have an idea of what I want to work towards. Thank you so much.”

"Thank you very much for helping us through our Health & Social Care Young Apprenticeship and organising our placements; they were amazing experiences."

“This is such a great service, I wish this was available to me when I was in school! I would have known exactly want steps to take towards achieving my goals quickly. I arranged an interview for my son, he came back so motivated and focused. Thank you.”

“I did the Personality Profile Analysis because I wanted to know more about myself and how I worked with others. The process was easy, and got the results fairly quick too. It was quite interesting to see my attitude to work, what roles suited me best and what type of working environment I preferred. It showed that I am pretty much the same during work and out of work, just a little bit more focussed at work. It also highlighted my skills and qualities, it was really detailed considering I only answered a few questions.”

“It was very motivational because it highlighted my key skills and attributes and confirmed I was in the right area of employment! It also showed how I worked under pressure, it was nice to see it all down on paper. I used this to improve my CV, really useful career management tool. Exceptional resource, would highly recommend to others!”

“I found the PPA very useful and quite surprising as it brought out qualities that I never thought of. The process was quick and easy, questions were clear. Some of the answers did make me question myself e.g. not sociable but overall, I can agree with most of the results and would recommend it to others, who are looking for jobs and needed a helping hand in finding strengths.”

“The personality profile was very accurate, it identified what job roles suit me and how I perform in my working environment as well as socially. If you're a bit lost in your career path or feel like you would like to know yourself a little better I would recommend it, definitely! I have already told a few of my friends and family about it. It was great! Thank you so much!”

“Just to say congratulations and thank-you for all your work in setting up our work experience this year. Certainly the best work experience we have had and hopefully a model for the future. So well done; you have been a marvellous support and done an excellent professional job. Many thanks.”
