NCS Co-ordinator – Social Action and Graduate Engagement

In Summer 2018 over 1,200 young people will take part in the NCS programme for 4 weeks.  The final 2 weeks of the programme will be spent by the teens in the community carrying out a social action project.  This co-ordinator role is key to giving these teenagers amazing opportunities to make a difference and make a positive contribution to society.  LEBC’s social action projects have been recognised at regional and nation level as high quality and feedback from participants is regularly the highest in the East Midlands, we are looking for someone to continue to drive this excellent reputation and to build on it further.

Hours: 37.5 a week.

Wage: £22,000. per annum.

Location: Office based with time out of the office approx. once a week.  There is the option of overnight residential work in the Summer, normally 1 night per week for 4 weeks.  Up to 8 Saturdays each year will be working days, the dates are set by this role.  Time off in Lieu is given.

Main Responsibilities:

- To ensure a wide variety of projects are sourced so that NCS team have a varied selection to choose from including hands on revamp, campaigning and awareness raising, fundraising and resource sourcing.

- To ensure at least 30% of graduates are engaged with further NCS activities including arranging opportunities including the annual NCS Action Day and reunion events.

- To brief the young people on programme about Social Action including running workshops on what is social action and how to make a big impact in their area.

Experience and key skills required:

- Experience of organising and leading; training / corporate events / networking / customer service is ideal.

- A methodical approach with the ability to think creatively and problem solve.

- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt communication to a variety of customers including teenagers, charities, businesses, MP’s.
