Ashfield Music Festival

Soar Valley College
Thu 14th July 2011, 8:30am til 3:15pm

This is a practical simulation day, developed by the Institute of Physics, designed to develop skills in work-related learning and illustrate the range and application of STEM.

The students work as a team to develop a new music festival proposal, learning how STEM applies in this context by taking on specific roles: project manager; health and safety advisor; construction manager; electrical, sound or lighting engineers.

We are looking for Construction and Engineering Ambassadors to help the students by acting as ‘expert advisers’. The students use a mixture of STEM-based knowledge, creativity and skills associated with enterprise in order to win the contract to stage the event. The day finishes with the students making a presentation of their proposal and a winning team is chosen.

No special technical knowledge is needed and a short briefing session for volunteers will be held beforehand to ensure you are familiar with your role.

If you would like to volunteer for this event please contact Judith Payne at LEBC on 0116 240 7000 or email for further details.
