LOROS Work Experience Opportunity

Are you interested in pursuing a career in health or social care?

If so, this opportunity is for you…LOROS is a hospice where people receive palliative and end of life care. We are offering 1 week placements for students who would like to see and experience excellent care and support for patients and their families, under the supervision of specialist health care professionals.

There will also be the option to complete a Level 2 Award in End of Life Care. The cost of the award will be sponsored by LOROS.

Dates:

The opportunity commences 25th July or 8th August for 1 week.
Places cost £57 per person.

What Will You Do?
  • Day 1 – Introduction to the programme, case study work and a chance to meet professionals working within the sector.
  • Day 2 – An insight into palliative care and an opportunity to explore the subject. A great opportunity to look at how hospice work fits with broader Health and Social Care work and a chance to talk to specialists who work in the sector.
  • Day 3 – Work with patients and develop your communication skills.
  • Day 4 – Work one to one with patients in the morning, in the afternoon tackle a range of patient scenarios.
  • Day 5 – Take part in team building activities and consider non verbal skills which are used. You will also get the opportunity to gain expert advice on career pathways in the sector.
