National Space Academy Showcase Evening

Robert Smyth Academy, Market Harborough
Tue 6th November 2012, 4:30pm til 6:30pm

This event will highlight the programmes that are on offer through the National Space Academy and is a FREE science CPD session.

The event is aimed mainly at science teachers but local authorities and other interested parties are welcome.

About the National Space Academy

The National Space Academy is a network of outstanding teachers and space scientists that use the inspirational context of space to teach STEM subjects – and geography – to GCSE, A Level and BTEC students and their teachers.

Led by the National Space Centre on behalf of the UK Space Agency, European Space Agency (ESA) and Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), the Academy delivers student masterclasses, teacher CPD and holds careers events, its purpose being to materially enhance the size and quality of the UK science and engineering skills pool.

The National Space Academy Showcase Event

The Academy’s programmes have all been developed by a network of scientists working with current outstanding science teachers seconded to the Academy (“Lead Educators”) to ensure maximum relevance to the curriculum and individual schools’ needs. The showcase event will highlight how the programme works and includes a FREE CPD session delivered by Judith Green (National Space Academy Lead Educator and an AST since 2002).

Local schools, colleges, local authorities, education business partnerships and other interested parties are all welcome.
