"Our main aim for running this event was to give all year 10 students a taste of different careers through talks by industry specialists. I can only relay the college’s thanks to you for all your help and organisation. It is very much appreciated and I thought you did a superb job! Very well organised and you were extremely helpful on the day."

"The children (and staff!) really enjoyed their day at Highcross. The workshops were interactive and gained the attention of the children. The questions in work booklets really helped the children to get in to the process of talking to staff at Highcross and encouraged them to think some great questions. The day helped the children to realise the variety of job opportunities available in the shopping centre.”

(St. Botolph's C of E Primary School)

"It was helpful for my future business planning to talk to teaching staff and youngsters about their experiences and needs and make them aware of the existence of my line of work. It was useful to network with other business people. I was very impressed by the organisation before and during the event. The behaviour of the young people was excellent."

This interview has helped me to understand what I would like to study in college. This has also aided in me recognising what I need to do to achieve my goals set out with my Careers Adviser.”

"I enjoyed the CV workshop. It was delivered in a really fun way which made me take it all on board."

"Having experienced a challenging year 11 at school, students should be using the summer to let off some steam and have fun in order to be fully prepared and refreshed for the year ahead. However, this doesn't mean their development needs to stall. There are many valuable lessons that students learn outside the classroom that impact, not only their performance when they return to school, but their life beyond that too. I'd urge teens to use their freedom to harness the opportunity the summer brings through experiences like NCS, a programme we recommend at Groby Community College that is open to all 15-17 year olds across Leicestershire. The programme which offers four weeks of fun and discovery in the Summer holiday gives teens the chance to make new friends, grow in confidence and learn valuable work and life skills, helping them to re-focus their minds ahead of the new term."

Rob Coles, head teacher at Groby Community College

“I would like to commend NCS on its work to help young people to obtain the employability skills that are so important to their futures as employees - skills that employers are saying are needed. I would urge schools and colleges to work with NCS and together we can help prepare and develop young people for the future.”

Brian Lightman General Secretary, Association of School and College Leaders & NCS Patron

"The student was a very polite, interested and inquisitive person who fitted into our workforce very easily. It was a pleasure to have him here for the two weeks of his placement."
