FAO: Teachers - Farming in Action - Free CPD

A CPD opportunity for teachers of Science, Food Technology, Geography, Careers and Engineering where careers based in the Land-based, Food and Environmental sectors will be explored.

This event will give you an insight into careers in the land-based, food and environmental sector. There will be a Farm Tour with guidance on how to use tours within the curriculum and highlighting careers around the Farm along with practical activities that can be used in the classroom.

In partnership with the Science Learning Centre all state teachers attenfing this event can apply for an Impact Award giving your school £200 cover payment.

This event aims to give you a wealth of knowledge to enable you to:

  • Explain science in context by using a range of diverse spaces outside the classroom.
  • Use internet and new media resources that can enrich learning both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Develop resources and approaches to provide a focus, encourage discussion and allow students autonomy.
  • Apply best practice with regards to overcoming barriers when visit planning.
  • Create resources that can be used back at school.

Networking Opportunity
STEM Ambassadors representing a variety of Farming, Food and Environmental careers will be in attendance for a networking opportunity, allowing you to make links and plan possible talks and activities for your students.
