Making Opportunities

Wreake Valley Community College, Syston
Tue 11th October 2011, 8:30am til 3:30pm

On the day of the event, students will apply for a number of fictitious jobs following the whole process from completing an application form to being interviewed by business volunteers to simulate the real scenario of a ‘mock interview’. They are given constructive feedback to increase their confidence in preparation for the world of work. The students will then self reflect on the process and themselves identifying development areas and personal targets. The business advisor will also work with the students to act out role plays on how to act and how not to act at an interview, learning about body language and interview ‘Do’s and Don’ts’. They will then go through a series of interview tests, which will involve testing the applicant on English Language, Figure Checking and Verbal Comprehension. This is a more structured approach in preparing students for the world of work by recognising the skills and attributes they already possess and how they transfer into the working environment.

Full briefing is given to all volunteers beforehand and full support from LEBC is there on the day.
