University of Leicester
Tue 18th June 2013, 9:00am til 5:00pm

Calling all Heads of Science, Heads of Social Science and STEM Teachers.

On Tuesday 18th June 2013 the University of Leicester will be holding its 4th annual G-STEM Year 12 Conference here at the University and online registration for the event is now open!

This 1 day student conference is FREE to attend and is open to all Year 12 students within your school/college who are currently taking Sciences and/or Social Sciences at AS-level or equivalent and have an interest in studying any of the STEM subjects at university in the future.

This event will be of particular benefit to your Widening Participation cohort in terms of raising their aspirations and so when identifying your students we would ask that you put your WP students forward first.

For further information about the event and to register for workshop choices, visit the University website at:

The event will give your pupils a real taste of studying STEM courses at university and how these can lead to rewarding career opportunities.

Pupils will have a chance to meet current university students and gain relevant information and advice on university and future careers whilst engaging in a choice of activities in subject areas.

Subject areas covered on the day will be:

  • Archaeology and Ancient History
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Economics
  • Engineering
  • Genetics
  • Geography
  • Geology
  • Mathematics
  • Physics

We expect to have high levels of uptake for this event, so to avoid student disappointment, please register your expression of interest early and ask students to register online as soon as possible.

The submission deadline for our first round of online student registrations is Friday 26 April 2013 with the second (and final) deadline date likely being the middle of May.

If you have any further questions or would like any additional information, please feel free to contact us via email at [email protected].
