Training Employers supporting students in the workplace

Ashcroft House, Meridian Business Park
Thu 25th November 2010

It consists of two half day sessions or three evening sessions of 2 hours each. The aim is to explore the relationship between schools and businesses. The modules will clarify the responsibilities of a business volunteer hosting a student placement and working in partnership with teaching staff. There will be sessions on preparing materials to use with students and engaging students’ attention. As well as providing an understanding of how your contribution helps the students, the course may also be a useful part of your own professional development.

By the end of the day you will

  • be clear about your statutory responsibilities and those of the school
  • know how to plan your input to engage students
  • have ideas for engaging students
  • understand how your contribution supports students’ career development
